This is one of the most amusing French "affiches" that we have found to date. It is an advertisement for shoe polish and it dates from the 1930's-40's. It was purchased in Paris.
The hard paper board sign was printed by B. Sirven (Toulouse/Paris). The background is a brilliant cherry red which sets off the fabulous ink black horse. The shoeshine man and his customer come up off their seats when the jar of black polish is opened. A small horse trainer in the background runs to tame the horse. The expressions on the faces of the men and the overall scene are amusing.
The sign measures: 14" x 8 3/8". There is a string hook on the back for hanging. It is in excellent condition with little wear.
