French Porcelain Scent Bottle

Beautiful pink flowers with bright green leaves give this bottle a breath of springtime. It is from Paris, France and dates from around 1920-1930.

It started in a plain, white state and has been carefully hand painted on every surface. The sides and front/back bottom have a blue background with a wave-like pattern in brown. The unusual round center portion has a fluted edge on the front and back which is tipped in gilt. Wide bands of butter yellow run down each side, framing the blue sides nicely. The lip of the bottle is in blue, with a pink flower front and back. There are hand applied gilt accents. The back side of the bottle has a lovely spray of pink and yellow flowers.

The stopper or bouchon, has a plain unglazed portion that goes down into the neck of the bottle (this has an area of wear along the bottom edge..see picture). The top of the bouchon is in the shape of a flower and has fluted "petals" underneath. The edges are scalloped and accented in gilt. There is a beautiful pink flower with bright green leaves on the top center.

It measures: 5 7/8" tall, 2 3/4" wide at the base, and 1 5/8" deep at the base. It is in very good condition, with no noticeable cracks or chips, only wear to the stopper as mentioned above.
