Vintage Breton Wooden Hanging Spice/Onion Rack
Furniture from the Brittany area of France always has the signature "ship's wheel" design. In this small piece there are two, each with intricately turned spindles. Pressed and incised designs of flowers and fans are placed on the front and side panels. There are two little turned acorns on the front corner panels.
There is a small triangle hook for hanging on the kitchen wall. The interior measures 6 1/2" deep, 4 1/2" wide and 3" from front to back, just large enough to hold small amounts of rosemary, lavender, thyme, garlic or onions. It stands on four small square feet, and could as well be used standing against the wall on a counter top.
The total height is 12 1/2", the width 5 1/2" and the depth 2 3/4". It is in very good and solid, useable condition.
It would be perfectly delightful in a French country kitchen along with a collection of brightly colored enamel ware.
