Vintage French Enamel Bucket w/Handle

With the cheerful design of a royal blue and orange checkerboard, this enamel piece makes a statement wherever it is. It is French, from Provence and dates from 1930-1939.

It is a large bucket, standing 10 1/8" tall (10" in diameter). The enamel is white, with a painted pattern on the front and back sides. There is a metal handle with a wooden holder, attached to the bucket through enamel "ears". The top has a royal blue rim.

The bucket is solid and in good condition for it's age. It will hold water without leaking (we tested it). There is little loss to the colored design. There is some chipping and rust around the bottom and along the inside bottom and top, but this is normal for age and wear of a piece of this nature.

It's unusual pattern make it an excellent addition to an enamelware collection. It would be fabulous in a Provencal kitchen, used to hold rolled up place mats or utensils.
