Very unusual 14 piece set of silver demi-tasse tea spoons, with sugar tongs and sugar sifter. The spoon bowls are gently washed in gold. The tongs and sugar sifter decorated bright cut edging, no monogram (!). Each twisted silver handle terminates in a finely wrought hoof. This beautifully made set comprised entirely of .800 silver. Each piece marked with the French import guarantee for small items of at least .800 silver. Some of the pieces also show an .800 punch. No maker's punch in evidence; and the .800 punch, while clearly Continental, could be of Italian, Dutch or Austrian origin (for example). The hoof of the horse is a symbol of fertility, which also makes this set a very special gift for a baby shower; so unusual and creative a shower present will guarantee surprise, delight and a sense of appreciation for how warmly regarded the recipient is to the gift giver. Actually, as gifts go, this one is bound to bring joy and awe to the recipient, regardless of the context (Christmas, birthday, wedding, etc.). It is so remarkably unusual; the high quality so compelling.
