Absolutely fabulous and RARE set of 12 dessert or coffee spoons by Emile Puiforcat. The spoons are decorated in Louis XVI style. The highlights include the courtship scenes on the bottom of each spoon; there are several different themes. All the romantic women and men are dressed in period garb. On the other side there is a blank cartouche surmounted by a pair of doves, and the ever popular Louis XVI style ribbons and bows, a smattering of floral foliate sprigs. The edges are graceful lamberkins. The bowls of the spoons generously slathered with 18K gold. And the back base of the bowl decorated with crossed torches and a bird on the wing, surrounded again with lamberkins in keeping with the theme. Please see photos for dimensions. The condition is quite good. No real flaws to note. Just some usual age related wear. All pieces clearly marked with the Puiforcat punch and the Minerve 1st titre; guarantee for .950 parts silver. The fitted box is original to the set. A simply wonderful unique set, by one of France's preeminent mastersmiths.
