Antique Miniature Painting Madonna and Child - Firenze Porcelain Plaque - Gilt Ormolu Frame
This painting is a beautiful depiction of Madonna and Child after the 17th century Spanish Baroque master Bartolomé Esteban Murillo.
Hand painted on a Firenze porcelain plaque, this devotional miniature is set within an elaborate gilt ormolu frame. The frame is richly adorned with hand chased, engraved, and applied dore bronze ornamentation. The porcelain plaque is stamped on the reverse with a black Fleur de lys mark above Firenze.
The miniature painting is beautifully executed, and the colors are rich and vibrant. Both the painting and frame are in excellent condition. The ribbon tip of the bow surmount has separated from the frame. The separation is not visible and does not detract from the beauty of this extraordinary frame.
The original Virgin and Child by Murillo was painted circa 1650-1660 and is housed in the Galleria Palatina - Palazzo Pitti, Florence, Italy.
