Napoleon III era Palais Royal lime green opaline glass egg in a nest casket.

Opaline glass (or cristal d' opale) first appeared in France during the Empire period and reached its peak of popularity during the reign of Napoleon III.

Fine objets d'art such as this would have been sold in one of the famous Palais Royal shops of Paris as a luxurious memento for a well-to-do Grand Tour traveler.

These delightful 19th century Palais Royal treasures are highly collectible today.

The opaline egg casket is in very good condition. This Palais Royal egg casket is a beautiful example of French opaline art glass.
