Frankenthal Wessel Porcelain Napoleonic Military Figure, Hand Painted, French Cuirassier Officer
Porcelain Napoleonic military figure, polychrome and gilt, titled on naturalistic base "Franz. Curassieroffz. 1812". The French Cuirassiers played a prominent role as heavy cavalry in the Napoleonic Wars. They were "big men on big horses" with a breastplate or cuirass. This finely detailed and hand painted porcelain French Cuirassier figure will make a great addition to any Napoleonic collection.
This porcelain Napoleonic figure was manufactured by Friedrich Wilhelm Wessel of Frankenthal, Germany, founded in 1949. The porcelain figure is in excellent condition with no damage or restorations. There is a kiln firing flaw on the underside of the base. Please see photographs.
