Antique Viennese Austrian Enamel and Silver Miniature Clock
Vienna Austria, 19th century
This rare and diminutive clock is decorated in the extremely labor intensive process of painted enamel. The front panel is finely painted with romantic figures in a classical garden landscape setting and is encased in .800 (almost sterling) silver. Crafted by skilled Viennese artisans of Austria, these small ornamental clocks were highly desirable during the 19th century.
The clock is in good working order with key included, although we have not tested it for accuracy or duration. The enamel panel is in excellent condition and is without damage. There are a few light scratches on the back of the silver case consistent with age. The clock is stamped with the Austrian 800 silver mark. This extraordinary clock will add beauty to any dressing table or Viennese enamel collection.
