This amazing little antique spoon is made of sterling silver. Inside the bowl, it has a detailed design which reads MASSACRE MONUMENT SPIRIT LAKE, IA. The handle depicts a Native American Indian chief and corn. This commemorates the last Indian massacre on Iowa settlers which happened in 1857. We would date this spoon to the early 1900s. The spoon measures about 3 15/16" long by 13/16" across the bowl. It is signed with the mark of PAYE & BAKER which is the initials P & B inside hearts and it is also marked STERLING. It is a lighter weight spoon and weighs about 5.9 grams. Very good antique condition and we have not polished it. You will treasure this!!!
