Joseph Brant Mohawk Chief Framed Engraving 1857

Here's a vivid depiction, wood-engraved and original hand-colored by Stebbins in 1857, lavishly framed and ready for hanging. Condition of the image is quite good for its age, with some marginal foxing and light offsetting. The colors are still strong and the engraving crisp.

The subject is Joseph Brant (a.k.a. "Theyendanegea" 1742-1807) a Mohawk Chieftan, who fought for the British in the French-Indian war (1754-63). He again sided with the British during the American revolution, leading six Iroquois nations. He became a peacemaker after the war.
