Osceola Seminole Chief Antique Wood Engraving 1857 Framed

Here is a vibrant original hand-colored antique wood-engraved print plate signed by Bosset Edmonds, conservation framed and French matted. Framed size is 12-1/2" wide by 15-1/2" tall and ready for hanging. Condition of image is quite good for its age, with strong colors and linework. Typically, some mild foxing and offsetting.

Osceola (a.k.a. "Billy Powell" 1804-1838) was the charismatic war chief of the the Seminole Indian tribe in Florida. Of Creek, Scots-Irish and English parentage, Osceola led the Seminole resistance during the 2nd Seminole war when the U.S. tried to remove the tribe from their lands.
