Antique Shotgun or Rifle Case C. 1870 Leather "Leg-O-Mutton" Style

Here is a nice old "leg-o-mutton" type long gun carrying case that provides excellent protection for firearms and is easy to transport. Shown here with a gun to illustrate how it is carried by disassembling the firearm, in this case an antique Vulcan Arms 12 gauge breech loading shotgun (not for sale on Ruby Lane). The case is fully functional and I have used it many times to convey the the very gun illustrated, hunting.

The case, which measures 33" long and 8" wide has had numerous leather repairs over the years, including a newer strap. The inside is lined with good soft fabric with a separator to keep the barrel and stock from chaffing. There is an oval brass medallion on the side which has never been monogrammed and the overall condition is excellent other than one small worn spot in the leather. The leather is supple and not flaking or friable as old leather frequently gets.
