These diminutive orientals have been increasingly difficult to find the last couple of years, but here's a pretty one with a crimson ground and tan & light blue details. It measures 25"X38-1/4", and approximately 8l knots per square inch. It has a 100% merino wool pile hand woven in Pakistan. It exhibits the squared-off geometric patterns that distinguishes tribal rugs from village (city) pieces and the "abrash" (color variation) that most buyers of orientals find desirable. Rugs of this small "pushti" (2'X3' pillow)size are usually woven on small looms by nomads and is NOT a "prayer rug". A common misconception is that all tiny rugs like this are for prayer. This is only true if the rug has a "mihrab" (arch) at one end of the pattern to indicate positioning towards Mecca. True prayer rugs can be any size, and occasionally have more than one mihrab (sometimes enough for a whole family). Not very old and in perfect condition.
