The 142* prints in this portfolio were printed on colored 70 x 95cm, 50KG bond paper. The first edition consisted of 5,000 copies, 200 of which were numbered and signed by the artists. Printing of the first edition was completed 31 December 1960, in Mexico City. Note: In the layout of this work , the printers selected the original recorded album "Prints of the Mexican Revolution," edition of the "Mexican Stamp", published in the year 1947, considering them a thematic reflection of that time. Technical Direction for this first edition of prints was by Antonio Pujol.

Our edition is not one of the 200 artist signed editions.
Published in 1960 by the TALLER DE GRAFICA POPULAR artists' collective, "450 Años De Lucha, Homenaje Al Pueblo Mexicano" is a soft-cover unbound portfolio that contains 142 prints by artists such as Leopoldo Méndez, Pablo O'Higgins, Alberto Beltrán, Mariana Yampolsky, Alfredo Zalce, Luis Arenal, and Elizabeth Catlett. The prints originally served as street flyers and posters for the political instruction and edification of an illiterate population. Thousands of these prints were widely distributed throughout Mexico. As a chronicle of 450 years of Mexico's political history, this portfolio of prints covers everything from the 1519 heroic Aztec resistance against the Spanish Conquistadors (Cuauhtemoc - Leopoldo Méndez) to a woodblock print celebrating the nationalization of Mexico's mineral wealth in 1960 (Hacia La Nacionalizacion de la Mineria - Jesus Escobedo).
The folded paper portfolio measures 11" x 16". The condition of the index booklet and prints is near excellent. There is wear to some corners of the paper portfolio. (Given the design of the portfolio and the weight of the prints, no wear to the corners would be next to impossible!) Given the materials employed and its age, this collection of paper is in near excellent condition. No prints are missing from this collection.
