Boy with Dog Figurine, Hard-paste, Late 19th C.

This beautiful figurine is expressive and sweet. The wall of summer blooms behind the male figure and his dog is decorated both front and back. Some of the blooms are chipped but the majority are completely intact. There are gradation differences among the sheens within the glaze and hand painted decorations. One of the nicest differences can be seen between the glaze of the "silk" white blouse and that of the semi-matte "skin" of the face.

This European hard-paste porcelain is in the manner of 18th century English and French producers of fine soft-paste porcelains. There is a hand painted, gilt anchor maker's mark on the back-exterior of the pedestal, on the side opposite the dog.

This figurine, save for a few missing petals, is in excellent condition. It measures 8" high, 4" at its deepest, and @ 5" at its widest.
