This framed lithograph is signed (initialed) in the plate and signed below the image on the right. It is entitled: Street Scene - Provincetown. The image size is 5" x 3". The black frame size is 8" x 6 1/2".
John W. Gregory lived in Provincetown, Massachusetts until his death in 1992. He was a Photographer, Lithographer, lecturer and author. Mr. Gregory was born in Brooklyn, NY in 1903 and as a young man studied with John Sloane at the Art Students League in New York.
Mr. Gregory's photographs were published by Time Magazine, the New York Times and the Associated Press. Seven of his photographs are included in the Smithsonian Institution's permanent collection. Gregory's photograph of Provincetown's oldest house was included on the Voyager 1 "Golden Record" copper disk. In 1936 he was selected as one of America's best print makers.
