The CUBE teapot was a modernist design and was a very successful British innovation. Robert Crawford Johnson designed the CUBE Teapot and registered "Cube Teapots Ltd" in 1917. He perfected his successful teapot design into one that did not drip, poured easily, was chip resistant, and was stackable. In 1925 Johnson formed "CUBE Teapots Co., Ltd" and then began a major marketing campaign. This campaign was a huge success and the public became desirous of the Cube Teapot. Then, and under license to do so, companies including Wedgwood & Co Ltd and T.G. Green & Co. Ltd began producing the Cube teapots. The Cube Teapot was used in cafes, restaurants and at sea on most Transatlantic Ocean Liners. The Cube Teapot remained popular well into the 1950's.
