American Pressed Glass Bread Plates, Circa 1870

This offering includes two 19th century Pressed Glass Bread Plates. We are selling them together.

"Give Us This Day Our Daily Bread" With Frosted Lion This bread plate may have been made by Gillinder and Sons (Port Jervis, NY), ca. 1877. The plate measures 12 1/4" handle to handle and has a 10 3/8" diameter. The glass shows wear.

"Cupid and Venus" This circa 1870's bread plate has a braided edge. This Cupid And Venus pattern was made by Richards and Hartley Glass Company (Tarentum, PA), which later was acquired by U. S. Glass Company. The plate measures 11 1/2" handle to handle and has a 10 5/8" diameter. The glass shows wear.

Both plates have air bubbles trapped within the pressed glass.
