This vintage Stork brooch is in near perfect condition and is stunning. It is unsigned. It is golden in color and has individually set red, green and clear glass "gems". We believe it is a stork and that this costume piece was inspired by the Stork Brooch owned by The Duchess of Windsor, wife of the abdicated King Edward VII of England. The Duchess of Windsor's brooch was gold, diamonds, rubies, sapphires and emeralds. Its overall design is exactly like that of our costume piece of jewelry. It is made beautifully; please note the photo showing how they even set the crown of the bird with crystals-something a lesser artisan would have left just metal. One crystal is missing in the neck. The stork's eye is green.
This unsigned Stork brooch is referenced on page 62 of "Unsigned Beauties of Costume Jewelry: Identification and Values", by Marcia Sparkles Brown (2000, Illustrated).
This Stork brooch measures 2 1/8" high by 1 3/8" wide.
