This art deco treasure is elegant and surprisingly sexy!
We have overexposed the photos to make it easier to view the great details of the dress. Although the dress is sheer and will require a slip, it is a darker black than the photos convey. (Our slightly metallic mannequin is also throwing some reflections). Measuring 42" in the bust it tapers in to 38" on the hips.
The dress features amazing horizontal bands of faceted steel beads sewn in alternating deco patterns. The bands on the skirt are applied to four individual layers of chiffon on the front panel of the skirt, and applied directly to the single layer of the back panel. The larger front panel wraps slightly over the rear panel, the construction forming two 21.5" side slits beginning at the bottom of the first layer of chiffon that falls under the waist.
Measures 50" long from shoulder to the bottom hem.
The dress is in very good vintage condition, with very very minor discernible bead loss to note. One small beaded area at the waist that is loose with a little loss. The dress has a few very small holes in the chiffon, two at the neckline near the beading and a few in the bodice. We have included a closeup of the one larger hole (about 1/2")and you can see the small area of beads that are loose. Dress has been cleaned by our fine vintage cleaners, post photos, so it is ready to wear.
A fantastic piece of wearable art deco textile art! How we adore the opulent 1920's.
