I can't remember when so old was so new again. Majestic and grand, red carpet worthy and far more dazzling than our pictures can convey; we discovered THE most exquisite antique shoe buckles and the result of the conversion was astounding! To begin with, the scrolling design of the oval buckles is breathtaking. Add to this, gorgeous cut steel rivets that convey the look of sparkling diamonds. Then 14k yellow gold French lever wires set the stage for 18 carats of smokey quartz briolettes with colors descending from smoke to silver and gold - echoing in perfection all other elements of the earrings. Constructed to sway slightly on the wires and fall so beautifully against the cheek and neck. Buckle portion measures 2 1/2" by 2" wide - add a 1/2" for the wires; when lying flat they raise about 3/4" high. Fairly heavy.
Excellent condition for their age, which we estimate they began their life in the early to mid nineteenth century as shoe buckles. These beauties were and are rust free with completely intact rivets - and they are COMPLETELY captivating. A one of a kind absolute treasure.
