This incredible unsigned gilt sterling figural was without a doubt produced by Eisenberg and Sons in the early 1940's. Featuring an intact rich gold plating with incredible warm patina, measuring a substantial 3 1/4" tall and 2 1/2" wide, weighing a hefty 50 grams and displaying astounding design and craftsmanship, this brooch is a collector's dream. Adorning it's feather's and tail are dazzling pave set ice rhinestones, his waddle and his eye are ruby red glass cabochons, his lovely comb gorgeous open-backed pink faceted crystals with rhinestone ice spacers. Metallic green enamel completes his highly detailed legs and claws and traces of black enamel are seen under close examination between the paved feathers and in the details of his body. Although there is some black enamel loss (seen under very high magnification), it blends nicely with the patina and is not detracting in the least. This is one of the most incredible Eisenberg brooches we have seen - correction - one of the most incredible BROOCHES we have seen.
Stamped simply STERLING on the rear, there is one small circle where one would often find a stone setter's mark. Not to worry, not all fine costume jewelry pieces were signed. Some were crafted in limited quantity for employees or special orders, some were simply signed based on the venue in which they were to be sold. Notwithstanding this, all roads point to Eisenberg. The craft, the weight, the curvilinear detail of the feathers and the wings, the rich gold plating and the open-backed pink comb stones are all hallmarks of the fine and collectible early Eisenberg figural pieces. Excellent vintage condition, with a warm, rich, thick patinated gold plating and sparkling stones.
A truly rare and remarkably beautiful piece that is 100% guaranteed to be authentic and amazing!
