Early red-painted Furniture, from the Erzgebirde (Ore Mountains) region

This parlor furniture is typical of the red-painted furniture produced in the Saxony region of Germany in the early part of the 19th century and onward. Such furniture is presented in the book The Goodman House Museum by Libby Goodman, edited by Swantje Koehler.

Of delicate wood, in a simply-made Regency style, the group includes one sofa and two chairs, all having their original upholstery.

The sofa is 4 3/4"(12 cm) wide and 3 1/2"(9.5 cm) high.

Excellent condition.

German - Early 19th century.
