Wonderful Heintz Art Metal Card Tray or Plate

This is a signed Heintz Art Metal Card Tray which is five and 3/4 inches in diameter. It was made between 1912 and 1932. The tray or receiver (which they were sometimes called) is bronze with an extraordinary sterling silver overlay which resembles a indian design but probably arts and crafts. There is a small stamp on the bottom of the tray with the Heintz company logo, the word "Sterling" and the patent date. This tray has one of the deepest, darkest patina's we have ever seen. It's simply beautiful.

For those who are curious:

Otto Heintz was from a family of manufacturing jewelers that was established in 1875, in Buffalo , NY. In 1902, Mr. Heintz purchased a small company, and renamed it the Art Crafts Shop. He began to design and manufacture of copper items with colored enamel decoration. In 1906, Otto changed the name of the studio to Heintz Art Metal Shop, and changed to bronze as the base material and sterling silver as ornamentation. In 1912 he was granted three patents for the application of silver to bronze without solder. Heintz pieces were produced for a only a short time.
