Vintage H.I. Hummel Goebel Heavenly Angel Figurine 21/I TMK-6 Large 7" Signed Hi 81

M.I. Hummel figurines were created by a warm, simple Bavarian girl whose name was Berta Hummel. Berta gained her artistic direction at an early age from the Institute of English Sisters. She entered the Franciscan Convent of Siessen in Bad Saulgau after she graduated in 1931. Two years later she was ordained Sister Maria Innocentia. In 1933 sketches of her work were sent to a publishing company in Munich. Her first artworks were two dimensional, better known as "postcards". Franz Goebel of the W. Goebel Company became aware of her artwork in 1934 and sought permission to transform the art into three dimensional figures. This is where the relationship between Sister Maria Innocentia, the Convent and W.Goebel began. Sister Maria's love of children and art has allowed the generations to cherish and adore the pert faces of all M.I.Hummel figurines. In 1946 after a long illness, Sister Maria Innocentia passed away at an early age of 37 years. The Goebel Company still produces the work of Berta Hummel today. The Convent of Siessen and Goebel work together to insure that the authenticity and decoration that Sister Hummel insisted on is still produce in the M.I.Hummel figurines. Today, M.I.Hummel figurines are the world's most beloved collectible, a tribute to the spirit of childhood and the talent of a brilliant artist.

My "Heavenly Angel" stands 7"H x 3"W. It has beautiful coloring and the face is absolutely adorable! He is in excellent condition, with the exception of an expected very minor crazing that is around the base, barely seen to the visible eye. In all my research,I have found a few of this edition (the 7" size)and condition, and valued between $240.00-$350.00.

This wonderful delicate piece shows the workmanship and incredible detail that Hummel Porcelains have been known for since 1935. After 75 years of collectible tradition, many collectors are still adding to their collection of M.I.Hummel Figurines.
