This is a rare and beautiful gem of a doll that we seldom see on the market. She is 19" tall and is in wonderful condition with only very minor accepted paint wear on the lower legs (pictured). The face is very expressive with well molded upper and lower eye lids. Her eyes are large and brown. Her hair is light brown. She has a broad nose and very full lips. The lips show molded detail at the top and bottom lip. Her cheeks are blushed. There is a minor paint rub on the left cheek. This doll was made in Philadelphia in 1900. The doll was sold by the Sheppard & Co. store located in Philadelphia. She is all stockinet cloth. Her head and limbs are oil painted. Her ears are well molded. The top edge of her left ear has minor wear. All fingers and toes are intact. There is some minor surface wear on the tops of several fingers but there has been no repair or repaint. Her stockinet torso has a molded derriere (pictured). She is appropriately dressed in period pantaloons and matching full slip. Her woven cotton dress is also of the period and is made with hand done button holes. The bodice is lined. This is a rare find and was a very treasured doll. Her excellent condition reflects the care that was given to her.
