Vintage - 1935 Framed Cloth Lithograph - Edgewood Tobacco
In 1877 a partnership between Charles D. Larus and Herbert C. Larus formed the Larus & Brother Company. This small tobacco company, based in Richmond, Virginia, received national recognition with Edgeworth pipe tobacco, which then became the international hallmark of the company. By the 1930s, Larus had expanded to manufacture cigarettes, operate distribution centers outside Virginia, sponsor national radio programs, and manage local radio and television stations.
This piece has been framed with a 3/16 Acid free foam core backing, a Dover Gray border, crackled Walnut Finish Wood frame, carefully sewed on in inconspicuous places and topped off with Masterpiece Glass.
The border was picked to be as close a match to the colors in the letters of the pipe tin and also the letters in the tobacco tin.
No rips, tears or holes. There is slight discoloration spots throughout the piece, but we opted no to have the piece cleaned because the discoloration accentuates the age of the piece! The colors are bright and vibrant and the artwork throughout is clear as the day it was manufactured!
