Hard to believe that this little Nippon Trinket Box wasn't damaged throughout the years! This is a little Nippon Hand Painted Trinket Box that measures 1 1/2" tall, 2 1/2" wide and 7 3/4" diameter. It is marked with the green M in wreath back stamp per Joan Van Pattens Collectors Encyclopedia of Nippon Porcelain, 6th series. There are no chips, cracks or fractures on this piece. This stamp was used between 1911 and 1921. This little trinket box shows no signs of ever having a cover. It was either used as a trinket box, or was part of a smoke set (where you would keep your wooden matches in it). Because they were usually discarded - this is a unique and collectible piece! Because they are so hard to find this would be a cherished addition for any Nippon Collector!
