Wrought iron blacksmith made triangle trivet that would have been used to support kettles, skillets, etc. Fine example of an 18th century colonial period fireplace/hearth accessory vital to the daily tasks performed by a period cook. Typical short legs due to sitting in hot embers for many years. Just a nice simple form of a hearth cooking item. A piece that would look good on any fireplace hearth with or without a pot on it. The trivet has some pitting due to it's age. 9" triangle with 1-1/2" legs.
