18th Century Primitive Wrought Iron Broiler / Gridiron

C. 1750-1800 Wrought Iron broiler. This is an unusual form, the cooking surface is only 5"W x 5"L and has a very long handle. Hot coals were dragged out of the fire onto the hearth then the broiler was placed over for light cooking and warming. A classic simple design, blacksmith handmade hearth cooking implement. Overall condition is very good with typical pitting and surface oxidation - see pics. Would look great in front of any hearth. 18-1/2"L x 5"W x 2-3/4"H (leg height to cooking surface).
