Fine example of an 18th century colonial period fireplace/hearth accessory vital to the daily tasks performed by a period cook. Beautifully handcrafted by a blacksmith featuring two birds as decoration. This could have been used to hang utensils, herbs, etc. and today would still look great hanging cooking utensils or make a great mug rack in the kitchen. This piece is not only functional but would look great in any kitchen; modern or period. All original and intact, consistent pitting and surface oxidation that would be found on an item of this age. 13-1/2"W x 12"H
