19th Century Primitive Wrought Iron Toasting Spike / Skewer

This is a fine example of an early primitive cooking implement that is all handmade by a blacksmith. Features a very nice twisted handle with loop at top. It also has four feet(two on top and two on bottom) that are still all intact. I have seen some smaller examples of spikes but this one is very large and extremely nice. Definitely a good piece of early iron that would make a great addition to any hearthware collection or to be used as a decoration. The piece has typical patina, pitting, oxidation that is consistent with an item of this age. It appears that the tip may have been slightly longer, it either was burned away or possibly suffered a loss but it does not take away from the piece. Overall 21-1/8"L
