19th Century Primitive Sticking Tommy Candle Lamp

19th Century blacksmith handmade miners lamp know as a "Sticking Tommy". These candle holders would be driven into support beams or into the cracks of the walls. The lamp also features a hook that could have been used to hang from ones helmet. A simple solution to allow for hands free working. Candle would be placed into the spring holder. A nice simplistic primitive piece of early lighting which has some pitting and surface oxidation which is consistent with it's age. Overall length is 10"L x 2-1/2" wide at the hook.
