18th Century Primitive Wrought Iron Whirling Gridiron Broiler Hearth Cooking Implement

C. 1750-1800 Wrought Iron revolving broiler. Hot coals were dragged out of the fire onto the hearth then the broiler was placed over for light cooking and warming. A classic simple design, early blacksmith handmade hearth cooking implement. The shouldered handle was needed because of the low height above the hot coals. Overall condition is very good with typical pitting and minor loss due to use and age - see pics. Would look great in front of any hearth. 11" round x 25"L
