We are thrilled to offer this vintage Mollie Parnis Boutique flowing yellow special occasion dress. Mollie Parnis designed dresses for four of our first ladies, including Mamie Eisenhower, Lady Bird Johnson, Pat Nixon, Betty Ford and Rosalyn Carter. How exciting to own a dress made by a famous designer who also dressed American "royalty."
The dress is a soft lemon yellow with a look of chiffon. The large collar and the dress itself both have a pleated effect, and the dress ties in the back somewhat higher than the natural waistline.
Tres feminine! This dress is a timeless beauty, and one could easily envision it gracing the red carpet today. For those of us going down a red carpet anytime soon, it would look fabulous at a wedding, ball, or other formal event. My daughter, not a fan of vintage clothing in general, absolutely loved it when she modeled for the photos (if you look closely, you'll notice her "baby bump").
Dimensions: 16.5 inches from shoulder to shoulder, 18.5 inches across the bust/chest, 13.5 inches across the waist, 16 inches across the hips, 55 inches down the entire garment. No size indicated on the dress itself. It is a perfect fit on my daughter, who is a size 8-10 and is 5'8".
Condition: The dress is in beautiful condition with no noticeable stains, rips or other flaws. Completely wearable, although cleaning is always recommended when buying clothes. Please use the zoom feature to review all photographs carefully, as they are an important part of the description.
Label: The label on the dress reads "Mollie Parnis Boutique New York." Mollie Parnis established her own dress business in 1933; she died in 1992. Based on photos of other similar Mollie Parnis vintage dresses, this one probably dates to the 1960's - 70's.
