This large portrait of Petrus Seguier was made after a painting by Nicolas de Plattemontagne. It was engraved by Nicolas Pitau c.1668. Petrus (Pierre) Seguier was Chancellor of France under kings Louis XIII and Louis XIV. In this portrait he is wearing the insignia of the Order of the Saint-Esprit. The print is framed in a simple early 20th century black frame. Overall size is 23" x 26", image size is 16" x 19.5". Overall condition is very good with wear to the frame edges. Image is crisp, good color. Wonderful large 17th century portrait.
