This pretty antique French toile was made c.1820. I have not been able to identify this pattern, but two of the images are named `La Dame du Lac' (the lady of the lake) and `Edouard Roi D'Ecosse' (King Edward of Scotland). The fabric is light weight cotton. I would guess it was once part of bed hangings or other interior curtains. At the very top of the panel you can see the color was once a raspberry red. It has faded to a wonderful raspberry pink. As you look at the pictures, the close-ups are truest to color. The panel has cloth tape and tiny brass rings at the top. Measurements are 32" x 103" long. This would have been a full width of this fabric.
This panel is good condition with variation in color due to fading. In the close up photo I've tried to show the `range' of fading. There is a faint water stain toward the bottom of the panel. If you hold the fabric to the light you will see some pin holes and small spots of thinning. The fabric is strong and you would not see this without holding it to light. This piece would be suitable for a small slip cover, pillows or a drape of some sort.
