This bronze trinket box features an attractive miniature portrait of Napoleon in the uniform of Chasseurs-a-Cheval with red collar and sash. This portrait is unsigned, but appears to be painted after a portrait done by J. Parent. The portrait is on a porcelain plaque. The back of the plaque is marked with the title, `Napoleon I' and impressed with the mark for Hutschenreuther as well as the number 15. The colors are dramatic and rich. The sides of the box are embossed with a foliate pattern. The interior is covered in rich green velvet.
Overall measurements are about 3.5" x 3" x 1.25". There is a tiny scratch by the eye. It's not really noticeable at normal viewing distances. Closing the lid can be a bit fidgety, but it closes tightly. Two of the metal tabs that hold the plaque in place in the lid are missing. I did notice one other is `loose' and is probably close to breaking. The remaining tabs hold the plaque securely in place.
