German pull bear on wooden wheels with cast iron axles measures 8" high and 11" long.
This little bear has been a long-time friend and frequent prop in my display advertising in doll magazines. Since I have gone to stand-alone doll advertising, I have been selling my display pieces. I have owned this bear for about twenty years and purchased him from Sotheby's Auction house. They guaranteed him to be Steiff with missing button (there is a hole in his left ear) but I'm not a Steiff expert, so will not make that claim. Just passing along what I was told.
Brown mohair bear has significant wear to the mohair as shown, but no holes other than to the soles of his feet (see photos). His black nose was re-stitched long before I acquired him, as were his ears. He has amber and black glass eyes, black nose, two small ears over the seams in the corners of the head. Paws with beige felt pads and three stitches. He is very sturdy and stands straight on his wheels with no sagging or unevenness.
The wooden wheels are worn as is the red paint. He wears a red tring with little brass bell as his pull lead.
Sweet little bear, well loved and ready to keep on loving.
