Character Baby for George Borgfeldt 16" Beautiful Head Original Finish
The head is very beautiful with fine, creamy bisque and beautifully painted features including individually painted eyelashes around lined eye cuts and gorgeous gray/blue spiral threaded glass eyes with outlined irises. The sleep eyes are still in tact, though someone has added two dabs of plaster to keep them open. The rocker is still in place, so this could be reversed if one wanted to. The eyebrows are light brown and have wispy hairs painted throughout. The open mouth has two upper teeth and the bottom lip shows the little molded tongue indication.
Marks: "G.B. // 8" Condition: No chips, cracks or repairs to the beautiful head.
The original finish composition five piece body is in very good condition with little wear and a chip at the hip socket on one leg. Much less wear than typical for baby dolls.
The original cardboard molded pate is included and is incised G.B. as shown in the photo.
This doll books for $500 in the most recent Eleventh Edition of Doll Values by Linda Edward, published in 2011. I have priced the doll very low to allow for a wig and clothing and still be well below book value on this lovely doll.
