Gorgeous German bisque shoulder head doll known as "Highland Mary" with blonde hair with bangs across the forehead. The shoulder head is 4-1/2" tall from base of shoulder plate to top of head. The back plate is incised "1", with no other markings.
Likely made by the Alt, Beck & Gottschalck Porcelain Factory, Thuringia, Germany.
Spectacular modeling and painting, the creamy bisque is flawless with blushed cheeks, shaded blue eyes with black pupils and white highlights to her right. She has black lash lines, red lid lines, accented eye corners and nostrils, and full lips with a darker separating line. She has blonde brows and her hair is beautifully molded with many wavy lines and comb marks.
The shoulder head is in excellent condition with no chips, cracks, or repairs.
The doll would measure about 16" to 18" tall +/- when on the proper body and properly dressed would have a value of about $695.
The shoulder plate measures 4" across and 2" front to back (depth). These measurements are taken in a straight line across the inside of the plate, shoulder to shoulder and front to back, not curved along the outside edges.
