Vintage Swiss Bronze Cow Bell 1878 Salgnelegier Chiantel Fondeur

A gorgeous vintage antique Swiss made cast bronze goat bell or cow bell. A bronze/brass 1878 Swiss Cow Bell with iron handle and clapper. Includes a wonderful leather strap that is original to the bell. It reads: CHIANTEL FONDEUR on one side and 1878 SAIGNELEGIER. It is decorated with crosses, shells and flowers. Although these bells are dated 1878, this is most likely a patent date because these were made well into the 20th century. The most recently produced models have a wire hanger for the clapper. The clapper on this one is made of a heavy gauge iron and will date to the late 1800's to early 1900's. This bell appears to have the original clapper and it makes a loud, appealing and very musical ringing. No cracks or damage to the bell. A beautiful bell that will enhance the decorations in our home and make an exceptional addition to your collection
