Mahogany Chippendale Ball and Claw Cedar Chest
This is a wonderful mahogany cedar-lined blanket chest that is in the shape of a Philadelphia lowboy, made by the Lane Furniture Company of Alta Vista, Virginia, back in the 1940s. It's all embossed inside with the Lane logo and all the many patents applied for, and it says the interior has been pressure tested for aroma, and also has a tightener to adjust the vapor smell. The lock has been disabled for safety purposes, but I understand that you can obtain a new one by calling Lane and giving them the serial number of this piece. The overall condition is nice, and it has been re-sprayed on top to remove the nicks and dings. It's finished in a dark reddish-brown mahogany stain finish, and has ball and claw Chippendale carved feet all around the simulated four-drawer raised panel front with a center clamshell carving. On the inside of the chest, when you open it, you can see where the cedar has split a bit, which is no big deal. When the wide beveled edge top is down, the chest measures 45 inches wide, 20 inches deep, and 33 inches high. Please take a look around the rest of the site, and remember that we give a generous freight discount when you purchase multiple items. Call 1-207-314-9621 for details. It will cost only $245 to have this Lane cedar blanket chest shipped to your home, within our normal delivery area.
