We are very proud and happy to have the good fortune of offering this federal style, heavily acanthus carved rolled arm sofa that is probably from the Boston region and dates from the 1850s era. It's a fantastic sofa, with gorgeous finish, acanthus carving across the entire back, cornucopias on the arms, wonderful detailed claw feet with carved berries, nuts and flowers all over and block front molded skirt. It even has little round pillows that slip underneath the curved arms. What's nice about this sofa is that it's not one of those uncomfortable ones! This one has a nice removable foam-filled cushion that can be sat upon without discomfort. The upholstery is an old-time heavy fabric with violet flowers and green leaves on a beige background that looks fantastic against the very dark acanthus carving of the frame. The fabric appears to be in really good condition. The overall size of this very large sofa is 84 inches long on the outside of the arms, 64 inches wide on the inside of the arms, an incredibly deep 30 inches from front to back, 30 inches high to the arms, 34.5 inches high to the sofa back, and 18 inches high to the seat.
