Two exceptional circa 1820 English hot toddy ladles fashioned with finely-turned coquilla nut bowls and laburnum handles. The two are identical in style, one has a slightly thicker bowl and the handle screws in and out of the ladle.
The ladles measure about 7" in length, the bowls measures approximately 1 3/4" in diameter. Both are in very, very good undamaged condition. There are no breaks, splits or restorations. Both coqullia nut bowls show some age lines however they do not affect the integrity of the pieces in any way.
Quite possibly carved by a sailor on his return voyage from South America, these beautifully and delicately turned pieces are wonderfully tactile and have a lovely warm patina. They have been together for almost two hundred years so I am selling together.
