Rare and Wonderful Circa 1825 Figural Staffordshire Pottery Pipe
The piece measures 6 3/4" in length and is in very, very fine undamaged condition. There are no chips, cracks or restorations and there is no crazing, paint loss and only minimal gilt wear. There is evidence that the pipe was smoked as the interior of the bowl is charred and the gilt loss that is present is around the mouth piece. There is one tiny, tiny blemish on the fellow's cheek where I think he has been resting on the same cupboard shelf for the last 175 years.
If you are an early English pottery collector, a pipe collector, a folk art collector, this piece, dating to the first quarter of the 19th century, would be a highlight of your collection. It will certainly be a long time, if ever, before you see another.
