Superb 19th Century Miniature Staffordshire Pottery Spaniel

A wonderful early 19th Century finely modeled Staffordshire pottery seated spaniel with open front legs and full separate, bushy tail. He has well-defined facial features, quite a charming expression, exuberant iron-red feathered spot and dot decoration and his posture is just wonderful!

This endearing little pup stands 2 3/4" high and measures 2 1/2" long. He is marked on the base with an impressed 'W'. The figure is in very good undamaged condition. There are a couple of age lines on the top of the gilt-edged base, a couple of small firing cracks, some kiln debris and a couple of spots of paint loss. Any issues are from time of manufacture or expected minor wear.

This piece dates to the first half of the 19th century...positively adorable!
