This title presents the Offices of Fetes and Dimanches both in Latin and in French. It was published in Paris by Chez Belin le Prieur.
It is bound in a stunning shade of cerise Morocco leather. The cover boards are accented with a hand tooled decorative gilt dentelle border. The gilt tooled spine features six "compartments", four of which have a central gilt tooled medallion. One compartment holds the gilt tooled title and the bottom compartment is embellished by two wide gilt tooled decorative bands. The endpapers are marbled and the pages edges gilt. The binding measures: 5 1/2" x 3 1/2" and 1 1/4" thick.
The religious text (in French) features both full page and vignette frontispiece engravings: Engravings included throughout text are: "Jesus au Jardin des Oliviers, Entree de N.S. dans Jerusalem and La Peche Miraculeuse". There is a calender for the year 1817 and a chart for the "Mobile Fetes" included as well.
It is a beautiful devotional book which is almost 200 years old. The binding has survived in very good condition considering the age. There is wear to the cerise Morocco at the edges and boards but otherwise the binding is sound and stable.
